Full Itinerary

Your local guide will meet you at your hotel before whisking you off on a journey deep into Polish history and culture. Think this is just another boring history or sightseeing tour? Not at all! Together, we’ll tick off all the ‘must-see’ places in the Old Town on this private tour, but from a whole new perspective – and we mean that literally! That’s because we’re going from some of the highest points in the city to the underground, showing you up, down, and all-around Krakow with a regal touch.

We’ll get high at some rooftop bars with excellent panoramic views that are fit for a king and queen, then get low as we go a few steps below the surface of the Main Square of Krakow, where you’ll witness reminders of the city’s medieval days.

The Royal Route (or Royal Way) is the classic tourist route of Krakow, where you’ll catch all those sites on your to-do list, like Wawel Hill. If you close your eyes and listen, maybe you can still hear the first performance of Coronation Mass by J.S. Bach in the Wawel Cathedral, or hear the clanging of swords from the knights’ tournaments that were held in the Wawel Castle courtyard or the sounds of voices feasting in the middle of the Market Square. We’ll pass by all the royal landmarks and more on this private tour, but you’ll also hear the extraordinary and sometimes silly stories behind them all. Forget the historical facts – we’re going to share the secrets from our monarch’s private lives and even let you in on a tale or two about Copernicus and Pope John Paul II.

And because we’re not just feeding your mind, we’ll also take your stomach for a treat at a delicious local spot. But before we eat, you’ll whet your appetite at a hidden bar with a selection of different Polish liquors, all still prepared based on secret recipes from the Royal Court.

Finally, we’ll finish it all up with a meal together – but not in Main Square like every other tourist to Krakow. Instead, we’re going up again, above the market, where we can take in the bustle of the vendors from a distance plus get an epic view of the entire Old Town. Sounds pretty royal, doesn’t it?!

Mr. Roy T. from the USA traveled on 15 May 2019:

Mateusz was an outstanding guide who transported us back in time to Medieval and Renaissance Krakow as we walked along the Royal Way in a manner that connected the past with the present. We quickly became friends as Mateusz shared not only the distant past but also the recent history of 20th Century Poland during.
